Born on May 9, 2017, Shine is a beautiful red merle who stands 16 inches tall and weighs 24 pounds. She is a spirited, medium-drive dog who keeps us laughing and loves the water, swimming, kayaking, and other outdoor activities. Bred by Gary and Sheila Hoskins of Woodridge Miniature American Shepherds, Shine is owned by us and is everything we could ask for in a companion. Eager to learn, she has earned titles in conformation and agility through UKC and AKC, as well as in Fast CAT, herding, rally obedience, obedience, and scent work. She has also earned her Canine Good Citizen designation and certificates in Farm Dog, Trick Dog, and AKC Temperament Testing. We love her fun, outgoing, friendly, curious, and active personality—and her ability to settle when it is time to relax.
According to AKC statistics, Shine finished 2018 as the No. 8 owner-handled conformation dog and competed in the AKC National Owner-Handled Series Finals in Orlando that December. Although she did not win, she will always be a winner to us. She remained among the top 10 owner-handled dogs for much of 2019 before we shifted our focus to performance events after she earned her AKC Bronze Grand Championship.
Shine is registered with AKC and UKC and is also in the OFA CHIC program, with all the health testing completed as recommended by the Miniature American Shepherd breed club.
Shine has produced lovely puppies for us and others. All are cherished pets, and many have earned conformation championships and performance titles. Their achievements have earned Shine the MASCUSA Register of Merit honors ROM-P, ROMX, and ROMX-II.
